Just about to update my iphone :-S let see how it goes!?
Bellow are details of the latest update released today (12 Sept 2008) News of this update was aired in san francisco @ Apple “Lets Rock”
iPhone 2.1 Software Update
iPhone version 2.1 contains many bug fixes and improvements, including the following:
• decrease in call set-up failures and call drops
• significantly improved battery life for most users
• dramatically reduced time to backup to iTunes
• improved email reliability, notably fetching email from POP and Exchange accounts
• faster installation of 3rd party applications
• fixed bugs causing hangs and crashes if you have lots of 3rd party applications
• improved performance in text messaging
• faster loading and searching of contacts
• improved accuracy of the 3G signal strength display
• repeat alert up to two additional times for incoming text messages
• option to wipe data after ten failed passcode attempts
• Genius playlist creation
So i downloaded the new firmware for my iphone on saturday. Took 17 mins to download via iTunes. Then took another 15-20 mins (wasnt counting) to backup my iPhone apply the software then restore it. Once my iPhone was activated (took another 5ish mins) my iPhone decided to retores again? but failed half way through (lost all my notes and home screen icons) but everything else was fine (apart from me forgetting to tell iTunes to sync my contacts :-s which i have now done).
App store = Awsome!
Few apps i would recomend that i have downloaded:
Facebook [FREE] <- Must have includes FB chat and nicely laid out!
Twitterific[FREE] <- Well made app paid for version available aswome twitter app
iPhone Remote[FREE] <- Apple sofware to controll your iTunes from your iPhone. This is a must have if you PC or Mac is hooked into a good set of speakers and you are in the party situation you can just change the track or playlist from where ever you are in your home (provided you are in wireless rang)
MooCowMusic:Band [5.99] <- AWSOME APP!!! Rock Drum kit, Funky Drummer, Bass guitar, Grand Piano, 12 bar blues and an audience to boot! These are the instruments you can play with!
TapTap Revenge[FREE] <- A game similar to guitar hero where you tap one of three coloured light beams to the rithem of the music, good fun and very addictive!
More apps are coming out soon once i get my mits on them and if they are any good ill write about them!!!
While reading info about the new iPhone 3G on the o2 uk website i found this:
If you have an existing iPhone you can still enjoy many of the new features by upgrading your software to version 2.0 from 11 July through iTunes.
you will also notice that if you open itunes it will tell you version 7.7 is available. I can only assume this is so because iPhone 2.0 firmware will require new features in itunes!!!! I would get itunes asap to avoid having to download it while servers are under load at apple. Which would mean waiting longer for the update for your original iPhone!!! NOOOOOOO
Ill let you know once i get the iPhone 2.0 firmware (which i will prob be staying up for tonight!)
i received a txt on my iphone the other day about the new iphone 3g and its various upgrade and contract options. so i headed over to o2.co.uk/iphone for more infor and found out that on the contract im on ill be able to get the new iphone for £99 as apposed to the £159 price for new customers.

Whilst in a chatroom i frequent on the mintirc.net network (irc.mint.net - formerly irc.hak5.org) someone posted this link to a job on the apple website for an “iPhone Field Validation Engineer”

Additionally the candidate will also be involved in the investigation and debug of issues and verification of fixes. “O2 has confirmed reports that the iPhone is not currently available anywhere in the UK, and customers may have to wait for the putative 3G Apple iPhone.”
Hey guys, sorry for the lack of posts i have been slacking off :-s (spending tooo much time playing with my iphone)
Anyway thanks to the £100 pound off deal @ O2 i bagged my apple iphone for £169.
Since i have had it i have dones alot of searches and found quite a few cool “mobile” sites with apps on which i will share with you over the coming weeks.
Firstly appmarks.com. Its thanks to a youtube video by Chris Pirillio i found this site. Chris talks about it and other reasons why you SHOULDNT jail brake your iphone (google iphone unlock for info on this).
Its a greate little customisable site desiged to look like the home screen on your iphone. You can add remove and edit apps on the page. There is a directory of apps and you can also submit your own!
Anyway check it out @ http://appmarks.com on your iphone or goto http://www.appmarks.com on your pc to find out more info, check out their blog and developer pages. Alternativly have a look at the demo below!
