My eeepc

Well i have had my eee pc now for 2 weeks….i can’t be without it!

Last friday we were flashing firmware on switches where i work and even though we didnt use it to do this (we used a work laptop) it would have been ideal! You could just carry it up to the Cabinet where the switch it and work right there…. Yes most switches are software / web managed but sometimes (in our case because we have stacked netgear gig switches in our cabs we have to goto the cab physicaly!

Anyway my point is that i think every techi should have access to one of these because im sure there is atleast one thing in the eee pc’s neat little bundle that somone could find of use!

I love mine and my advice to anyone who is / has been thinking about getting one… PART WITH YOUR CASH !!! Its worth it (Provided you are preapaired to put xp on…) The eee xandros distro is nice, very tidy and VERY user friendly! But I need xp for what i do with work and with streaming video + audio stuff i use at home! Honestly for the little money it is its worth every penny!

Burning Isos’ of fire with BurnCDCC

BurnCDCC is a great little free app that you can use for burning iso images of anything from Linux to a backed up driver cd.

Download here BurnCDCC

BurnCDCC

You can place this in your portableapps menu on your usb thumb drive, or add it to your pstart menu or even just place on your desktop use once and then delete it.

When you run BurnCDCC you need to:

Choose the image iso file, read verify and SAO should be un-ticked and Finalise and eject cd should be ticked.

make sure your cd writer is selected put in the blank cd, and hit start!

Simple as that!

I got one!!! My eeepc finaly arived! thank you cclcomputers.co.uk

YAY… i finaly received my Asus eeepc 701 4gb! I will be doing a full “howto” on setting up and also one for installing windows! check back soon!

Wmplayer just won’t stop playing….

***Update*** Apparently Windows Vista SP1 will have a bug fix for this problem… I wait with baited breath (cheers dan)

I have this weird problem with windows mediaplayer on Vista home premium….. Sometime i will listen to a mp3 file and when i hit X to close it will stop, other times it won’t! The Music just keeps on playing! :-( So then i have to go through the tedious task of opening task manager and then ending the process… This happened to me today and i thought hang on could i use a desktop shortcut, a batch file and sysinternals - pskill to just double click and kill it as a temp measure until there is a proper cure!?
So i got to work and made this. PSKillWMP

Install it then drag the shortcut to your desktop. Next time you close Windows Media Player 11 and it carrys on playing just double click and boom… wmplayer.exe process terminated!!!

Note: For vista and wmplayer 11. I expect you could extract files and have a play yourself… but the installer is taylored to Vista Home Premium and WMP11. If you want me to make an xp installer leave a comment with you email address and ill make you one.
